The British supercar manufacturer, Ultima, has built a more powerful, better handling version of its Evolution Coupe, called the RS. Updates include a more powerful engine, a reworked chassis setup, a lightly face-lifted version of its fibre-glass body and a revised aero package. Compared to the company’s earlier models, the new model’s exterior puts an emphasis on increasing downforce and improving airflow. To achieve this, there are pieces like a chassis-mounted front splitter, vortex generators, large rear diffuser, and swan-neck-mounted rear wing.

The Ultima RS is the new range-topping model from the boutique British automaker best known for the Ultima GTR.

Ultima RS Hypercar

Earlier, the company comes up with 2015’s Evolution, a thousand-horsepower sports car. It has Le Mans-inspired tire-torture device with a weight figure of just 950 kg (2,094 lb) that made it one of the hardest-accelerating machines in the world. The new Ultima RS manages to add 200-odd horsepower thanks to a harder state of tune on its top option: a supercharged Chevy LT5 V8. It also manages to drop 20 kilos (44 lb) from its tube-frame chassis and carbon-everything bodywork for a ludicrous final weight figure of 930 kg (2050 lb).

Besides that, customers have several power options – all of which use General-Motors-sourced V8 engine. The base model is the LT1 6.2-liter V8 with 480 horsepower (358 kilowatts). There’s also the LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 650 hp (485 kW). The RS with the LT5 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 comes standard with 800 hp (597 kW), but Ultima offers tuning of the mill up to 1,200 hp (895 kW).

n addition to the ludicrously high top speed, the RS can do the sprint to 60 mph in only 2.3 seconds and complete the quarter mile in just 9.2 seconds. The standard Ultima form of the supercharged LT5 produces 800 horsepower, but can be pushed to 1,200 hp. All that power is achieved through a six-speed manual gearbox from Porsche.

It’s the GM-Porsche partnership we never could’ve predicted, come to life. If that amount of power sounds rather intimidating to you, Ultima will also be producing versions of the RS with the 480-horsepower LT1 and 650-horsepower LT4. Additionally, the LS3, LS7 and LSA GM engines can be dropped in if you so desire.
